Before Using Your Prime Pellet Grill

The HALO CONNECT™ app is designed to work seamlessly with the PRIME550, PRIME1100, and PRIME1500 models. With the latest update, you can now connect your Prime300 Countertop Pellet Grill to your smartphone via Bluetooth. Although some features may be unavailable, you can still conveniently set the desired temperature, cooking time, and keep an eye on the meat probe(s) via Bluetooth.


Follow these steps to update your pellet grill and ensure optimal performance:

To download the app, simply visit either the App Store or Google Play, depending on the compatibility of your smartphone. Choose the version that matches your phone's requirements and enjoy the enhanced functionality and control offered by the HALO CONNECT™ app.

Connect to the Network

It's important to note that the HALO controller is built-in for 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. Ensure that your smart device is running the latest operating system.

To connect your grill to Wi-Fi or Bluetooth:

1. Make sure your grill is powered on by inserting the battery or plugging in the AC Adapter.

2. Press the Controller button to turn on the grill controller display and access the home screen.

3. In your smartphone settings, choose the Wi-Fi network you want your grill to be connected to. This can be your home network or a hotspot. Ensure that the Wi-Fi network is operating at 2.4GHz and not 5GHz or higher.

Update the Device Firmware

Open the HALO CONNECT™ app and follow the provided instructions to update the firmware.

  1. Once your HALO Prime unit has been connected to the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network through the HALO CONNECT™ app, you may see an alert of new notifications in the Messages icon in the top right corner. Tap this icon to review any new notification messages under the “System” tab.  To exit from these notifications, tap the back “<” symbol in the top left corner.
  2. To attempt to update your device firmware, tap on the grill on the “My Grills” page to see more details about the device.

    Important to note: When the device is connected, the grill's status will no longer be grayed out but will have a gold background to indicate that it is connected to the network.

  3. The Device Settings icon is found in the top right corner of this screen.  Tap this button to see available Device Setting options and search for “OTA” (Over the Air updates)

  4. You will see an image of the grill and the “Current firmware version” and a gold bar at the bottom to “CHECK FOR UPDATE”.  Tap the CHECK FOR UPDATE bar.

  5. If a firmware update is available, you will see “New firmware found” and a blue bar at the bottom that says “UPDATE IMMEDIATELY” to tap to begin the update when you are ready.

  6. Once you begin the update, you will see a progression of completion.

  7. Once progression gets to approximately 90%, the unit will power off and require a manual restart via the control knob to complete the update through the unit’s control panel.
  8. Your HALO Prime unit should now be updated to the most current firmware version.  You can tap the back “<” icon to return to other Device setting options or back further to the general device controls.
