1. Remove the Grates:

  • Start by removing the grates from your pellet grill.
  • Set them aside for washing with soapy water or use a degreaser for stubborn residue.

2. Remove the Heat Shield:

  • On the right side of the Prime Pellet grill, locate and pop the pin holding the heat shield in place.
  • Lift up on the shield to remove it.
  • Open the windows on the sear plate and lift the lever to detach the locking mechanism.
  • Remove the sear plate bar completely.
  • Use a mixture of mild dish soap and water to scrub the heat shield and sear plate clean. Rinse well and set aside to air dry.

3. Clean Ash Around the Burn Pot:

  • Check for ash buildup around the burn pot area.
  • Use a suitable tool to remove any accumulated ash.

4. Remove the Ash Tray:

  • Locate the burn pot tray underneath the Prime pellet grill, which is held on by a pin.
  • Pull the pin and slide the ash tray forward to remove it.

5. Dispose of Ash:

  • Place a small trash can under the Prime pellet grill.
  • With the ash tray removed, push all the ash to the center and through to the trash can underneath.

6. Vacuum and Scrape:

  • Using a vacuum cleaner, clean the sides of the grill to remove any residual ash.
  • Don't forget to vacuum up any ash that may have accumulated in the drip tray.
  • Utilize a spatula or straight-edge scraper to thoroughly scrape the heat shield clean, including the sear plate.

7. Reassemble Your Grill:

  • Put your pellet grill back together in the following order:
    • Ensure the notches in the heat shield are on the left side.
    • Insert your sear rod and lock it into place.
    • Place the bottom grates back into position, followed by the top rack.
    • Slide the ash tray back in and lock it securely in place.

8. Clean the Exterior:

  • Use a grill cleaning solution on the exterior of your pellet grill.
  • Wipe down the surfaces to remove any dirt or grime.
  • Allow the grill to air dry before its next use.

Regularly cleaning and maintaining your pellet grill is essential for keeping it in optimal condition and ensuring it continues to perform well, allowing you to enjoy delicious outdoor-cooked meals. To keep your sear plate and grill in good shape, it is recommended to clean the sear plate regularly, ideally after every few uses or as needed. This will help preserve the authentic smoky flavor you enjoy and ensure excellent performance for years to come.
