Before you begin
When disassembling, reassembling, or installing a new part, it's always a good idea to take photos before you begin. Focus on fasteners, wire placements, and part positions. This will make it easier for you to ensure you are reassembling everything in the right place after you complete the repair.
To replace the Heat Indicator:
Follow these steps carefully to ensure a successful replacement of the Heat Indicator.
- Detach the front facia (the stainless steel front of the oven), by unscrewing the seven hex screws that hold it in place.
- Gently remove the front facia, being aware that it may require slight adjustments and a bit of pressure since it fits snugly.
- After removing the front facia, you will find the two nuts that hold the heat indicator in place. Remove the old heat indicator by unscrewing these nuts.
- Securely attach the new heat indicator in the location where the old one was previously installed.
- When reattaching the front facia, be sure to carefully thread the heat indicator stem through the slot in the top of the oven before securing it in place.
Pro tip: To simplify the process of reattaching the front facia, start by screwing in the middle screw at the top. This will help align the metal and make it easier to fit the front facia back into place.
Troubleshooting Igniter Issues:
Follow these steps to troubleshoot problems that may arise with the pizza oven's igniter:
- Check if you have installed the required AA battery under the igniter housing.
- Make sure the battery is inserted correctly by referring to the small graphic at the bottom of the cap.
- Inspect the base of the igniter, underneath the button, to ensure all wires are securely plugged in.
- If you hear the igniter making a "pop" sound but it fails to ignite the gas, check the back electrode. This is the white rod with a metal elbow at the back of the oven, connected to the back burner. Ensure it hasn't been moved or shifted and that it is aligned with one of the holes on the back burner.
Faulty AC Power Jack:
Consumers may need to replace the AC Power Jack on their pizza oven under various circumstances, including:
-
Physical Damage: If the AC Power Jack is physically damaged, such as bent pins or a cracked casing, it may need replacement.
-
Electrical Malfunction: In cases where the AC Power Jack is not effectively transmitting electrical power to the oven, leading to issues like the oven not turning on or inconsistent power supply, replacement may be necessary.
-
Corrosion or Wear: Over time, corrosion or wear and tear can affect the performance of the AC Power Jack. If there are signs of rust, corrosion, or visible damage, replacement is advisable to ensure proper electrical connections.
-
Connection Issues: If the wires connected to the AC Power Jack become loose or disconnected, it can result in power supply problems. Replacing the AC Power Jack involves reconnecting the wires securely.
- Preventive Maintenance: As part of routine maintenance, users may choose to replace the AC Power Jack to prevent potential issues before they occur, ensuring the oven's consistent performance.
- Locate the backside of the power jack switch, underneath the oven.
- Find the nut that secures the power jack on the front wall.
- Unplug the black wire from the motor.
- After disconnecting the wire from the motor, trace it to the front of the oven to make sure it is not secured. If the wire is tied with zip ties to the bottom of the oven, cut the ties so that it can easily be pulled out.
- Gently pull the wire from the front of the oven, all the way out.
- Feed the new wire in from the front of the oven and reattach the nut on the backside.
- Attach the new wire to the motor.
Optional: You may choose to secure the new wire to the bottom panel of the oven using zip ties. This will help ensure that the wire lays flat and remains in place.
To replace the Turn Table switch:
- The Turn Table switch is situated at the rear of the oven, where you can find all the wiring connections.
- Locate the nut on the front wall of the oven that securely fastens the Turn Table switch and loosen the nut.
- Unplug the white wire from the motor.
- Once the white wire is disconnected from the motor, follow it to the front of the oven to ensure it is loose. If the wire is zip-tied to the bottom of the oven, snip the ties so that it is free to be pulled out.
- Gently pull the wire from the front of the oven, all the way out.
- Feed the new wire in from the front of the oven and reattach the nut on the backside.
- Connect the new wire to the motor.
To inspect a low-flow (low flame) regulator issue:
What is "low-flow"?
If the flame in your oven is weak, it may be due to a condition called "low-flow" in the regulator. This occurs when there is a slow flow of gas from the propane tank through the hose. It can happen for various reasons, such as igniting the oven in the wrong order of steps.
How to Properly Ignite the Oven
- Start by turning the Versa 16 knob to the OFF position.
- Attach the regulator hose onto the pizza oven and screw the other end of the hose onto a fully closed propane tank.
- Once securely attached, slowly open the propane tank.
- Then, turn the Versa 16 knob -90 degrees (you should be able to faintly hear the flow of gas) and hold down the ignitor button to ignite both burners.
To identify the cause of low-flow issues, follow these steps:
If you're encountering a low-flow regulator issue with your Versa 16, utilize the following steps to identify the problem.
- Ensure proper gas flow: Start by turning on the gas from the propane tank, and then turn the knob on the pizza oven.
- Test with a 1-lb cylinder: If possible, test the oven with a 1-lb cylinder. This will help determine if the issue lies with the propane tank or the hose regulator.
- Issue with tank/hose: If the oven functions properly with a 1-lb cylinder but not with the propane tank, it could indicate a problem with the tank or the hose regulator. To troubleshoot, start by trying a brand-new tank (not a refilled one). If the issue persists, it may be necessary to replace the hose.
- Issue with valve manifold or orifices: If the 1LB cylinder also experiences the same issue, the problem might lie with the valve manifold or the orifices. If this occurs, fire up the oven and check both burners. If only one burner is affected, it indicates an orifice issue. To resolve the affected burner, remove the blocked orifice and check for debris or buildup. Clear any debris from the burner by using a blower or a pipe cleaner.
- Issue with valve: If the problem points to the valve, your oven will likely need a new manifold. If you suspect the valve might be the problem, please contact our Halo Consumer Service Team at 1-833-572-1688. They will be able to assist you further.
To change the Igniter Switch/Module:
- Locate the electronic module under the igniter housing (black box that holds an AA battery).
- Remove the end cap and the nut on the other end of the bracket to release the module.
- Carefully remove the wires that are plugged into the module. If you're having trouble pulling out the wires, you can make it easier by using a pair of needle-nose pliers at the base of the wire.
- Connect the wires to the new module.
- Secure the module to the bracket by attaching the nut and the end cap.
To replace a Valve Manifold Gas Line:
- Find the manifold gas line (a black pipe equipped with a brass quick disconnect). This component is located beneath the oven, behind the knob.
- Locate the brass fitting that fastens the pipe to the manifold. This fitting should be secured with a single screw.
- Remove the old gas line. When removing the old gas line, be sure to retain the O-ring that connects the two pipes.
- Replace the old gas line with a new one, making sure to feed the brass fitting through the designated hole first. If a new O-ring is not provided, you can reuse the existing one.
- After installing the new gas line, it is crucial to check for any leaks before using your oven. Slowly turn on the gas and carefully listen for any hissing or unusual sounds that may indicate a leak. Checking for leaks ensures a safe and secure installation.
- If you do not detect any leaks, congratulations! Your installation is complete and you can now confidently use your oven with the new gas line.
To replace the Valve Manifold:
- Begin by removing the control knob. Simply pull it off. Then, remove the two screws located behind the button.
- To find the gas line of the manifold, simply look underneath the oven. It will be a black pipe with brass quick disconnects. Locate the brass fitting that secures the pipe to the manifold and unscrew it to remove the pipe.
- After removing the control knob and the two screws behind it, proceed to disconnect the two silver, bendable gas lines that are connected to the manifold. These lines are secured with nuts, which may have a nut size of either 9/16 or 7/16 depending on the specific model of the oven.
- After removing all of these components, the manifold can be easily taken out.
- To start replacing the manifold, first secure it in place by using the screws located behind the button. After that, connect the silver gas lines followed by the black gas line.
- When replacing the black gas line, it is important to ensure that you reinsert the O-ring. This step is crucial as it helps to create a proper seal, which is essential for the smooth operation of your oven.
- Reattach the control knob.
To replace the infrared Burner:
- Detach the electrode bracket at the front of the infrared burner by removing the two screws. This bracket is responsible for holding the igniter that lights the burner.
- Loosen the two screws located at the back of the burner to detach the infrared burner from the back bracket. Additionally, you may need to remove the two screws on the bottom of the oven that secure the bracket to the floor.
- With both brackets removed, simply slide the infrared burner back to remove it from the front orifice.
- Place the new infrared burner over the orifice, which is the brass fitting that fits into the burner's hole. Then, reattach both brackets to secure the burner in place.
- Slowly turn on the gas, and carefully listen for any hissing or unusual sounds that may indicate a gas leak. Once you have confirmed that there are no leaks, proceed to turn on the oven and you're ready to start cooking!
